Phases - Concept ProposalSelected for the prestigious San Francisco Decorators Showcase, Studio Alexander was tasked with envisioning a new interior narrative for 2315 Broadway, a landmark 1897 Queen Anne Victorian. Our proposals represent a deliberate dialogue between the home’s storied architectural heritage and a sharp, contemporary edge, honoring the 19th-century craftsmanship through a lens of a modern traveler. These spaces were not the ultimate design chosen, but still feel important to our work and ethos as a top interiors firm in the San Francisco Bay Area.
For this historic Pacific Heights residence, we moved away from the traditional Victorian restoration, choosing instead to lean into the shadows. We utilized a palette of saturated charcoals, hand-burnished walnuts, and deeply veined marbles to cultivate a sense of quiet, cinematic luxury that feels both grounded in history and entirely visionary. Both the bedroom, office & speakeasy tasting room are adjoined to each other and create a multi-use sanctuary within the home.
The designs are centered on the sophisticated interplay of materiality and light. In the bedroom suite, we reimagined the traditional hearth by flanking it with custom-integrated millwork that conceals a private bar, effectively transforming the room into a multi-functional evening retreat. This same commitment to architectural rhythm carries into the attached office & speakeasy tasting room, where the organic movement of stone meets the precision of minimalist, light-integrated shelving to create a space that is as much a gallery as it is a cellar. By layering these rich wood tones and artisanal finishes, we have created a series of rooms that feel timeless, provocative, and perfectly suited for a well traveled collector.
